Here for You

My broken heart will never heal
So don’t bother asking how I feel
I’d have to lie and use that tired line
Saying, “I’m fine. Just doing fine.”

Received awful news and felt  I'd drowned
Since then, I’m just a walking wound
Can’t forget that fateful stab
When it begins to heal, I pick that scab

In a time and place if I shed a tear
It’s not about what it may appear
For if I ever break and cry
It’s because I can’t help, even if I try

This sadness always gripping me
Is because you hurt physically, emotionally
Wish I could absorb all your pain
I’d do it then and again and yet again

Every time you bruise, I feel a sting
Wish I could give you everything
But my hands are tied, only God can act
And my heart has broken with that fact

And every time you hurt, I bleed
Wish I could give you all you need
Wisdom, heart, my very life
That I can’t, cuts like a jagged knife

When young, you laughed and played
Wish those days had always stayed
Now you are gone and grown
You handle tribulations on your own

You’ve conquered all your challenges
Ignoring all the damages
You’ve risen fast and risen far
And I’m so proud of where you are

My love for you is bright, pure and true
And I will always be here for you
My love for you is bright, pure and true
And I will always be here for you

Won't beComing Home

I no longer give a damn
That you don’t accept me as I am
My explanations are just wasted time
You still accuse me of a crime

So I won’t be coming home again
No matter how many times you call my name
Things can never be the same
And you only have yourself to blame

How could you ask me to give up
Things that I both need and love?
Just because they aren’t important to
You and others who agree with you

This should be just between you and me
And I’ve been through enough therapy
To recognize the guilt trip you are laying on
And know that you are in the wrong

So I won’t be coming home again
No matter how many times you call my name
Things can never be the same
And you only have yourself to blame

I finally recognize
That I’ll always be the villain in your eyes
And I’m sick of being cast in that vein
So I won’t be coming home again

I no longer give a damn
That you don’t accept me as I am
And I won’t be coming home again
No matter how many times you call my name
