GREETINGS
from Carmel
Home through the door
I hear running
then there she is
eyes shining
wiggling and dancing
her body bending and sidestepping
then leaping to give me kisses
Voicing soft little moans
of delight
of missing me
Her hair soft as marshmallow
tickling my face
Her tongue rough and quick
Then she runs off to find a treasure
Something special to show me
And prances back with pride
Dancing again with her offering
My smile is spontaneous
As are my endearments
I kiss her back
Rub her ears
And sometimes scoop her little body
To hug her close
And all the time
Her pom-pom tail is wagging
Ticking back and forth with glee
No one else greets me
With such abandon
Such enthusiastic adoration
And I know I'm blessed
