Linger in my Mind

Years since I’ve seen you, but I dreamed of you last night

Awoke with your beauty reverberating in my sight

Smiled as I ruminated about us when we were young

Our innocent romance and the crazy things we’d done

We didn’t part with anger; life called us separate ways

Stayed in touch awhile until it slipped away

Many friends and lovers I have left behind

But you are the only one that I still want to find

I’ve checked up on Facebook; searched my Twitter feed

But never found a whisper, a mention or a lead

Asked the old neighbours still living in our home town

But no one knew your story or where you could be found

Thought of growing bolder and employing a private eye

But you’d probably think I’m crazy and surely wonder why

For we are both older now and life is passing by

If we met once more we’d again be saying goodbye

So I’ll remember you with fondness and when I dream of you

I’ll take it as a sign that you recall me, too

And perhaps we’ll meet again, if fate is very kind

For despite the time that’s passed, you linger in my mind

I’ll remember you with fondness and when I dream of you
I’ll take it as a sign that you're thinking of me, too

And perhaps we’ll meet again, if fate is very kind

For despite the time that’s passed, you linger in my mind
