A Place Beyond

A Place Beyond

A wish into a willing well
Takes me where the fairies dwell
Where mermaids swim beneath the swell
And centaurs bend to let me ride
To a magic place where I can hide
Uncertainties that roil inside

A place other creatures cannot know
Where conjured, creative inspirations grow
And art, writing and dance all flow
This is our blessed heritage
Creative heart our inheritance
Artistic beauty the evidence

We are not trapped by present time
But travel on whim and song and rhyme
To the place where spirit dwells divine
A magic region unfit for fools
Blessed are those who use the tools
Discovered when imagination rules

Greetings from Carmel

GREETINGS
   from Carmel

Home through the door
I hear running
then there she is
eyes shining
wiggling and dancing
her body bending and sidestepping
then leaping to give me kisses
Voicing soft little moans
of delight
of missing me

Her hair soft as marshmallow
tickling my face
Her tongue rough and quick

Then she runs off to find a treasure
Something special to show me
And prances back with pride
Dancing again with her offering

My smile is spontaneous
As are my endearments
I kiss her back
Rub her ears
And sometimes scoop her little body
To hug her close

And all the time
Her pom-pom tail is wagging
Ticking back and forth with glee

No one else greets me
With such abandon
Such enthusiastic adoration

And I know I'm blessed

Ladder Against the Sky

I leaned a ladder against the sky
Dreamed that I could climb so high
Greet the birds in wing-spread flight
Count stars flung across the night
Beneath me a blue-green mystic orb
Light and life and dreams absorb
Daring me to greet the stars
Flirt with Venus, laugh with Mars
Visit all our solar kin
Fly to our sun and bask within
Universes we can't comprehend
Neither beginning, nor cosmic end
Shakes our imaginations free
To wander with eternity
