Police tape stretched all around

Esplanade road alongside the beach

My favored walk now out of reach

Police cars and surveillance vans

Forensic team and press on hand

Cops questioning door to door

Wonder what they’re looking for

The enemy of your enemy is your friend

At least for now you can pretend

Until this whole mess is done

And the good guys have all won

Woman with machete wounds

Perpetrator gone, bring in the hounds

Police dogs with their noses down

Wonder what it is they’ve found

Wish I knew what’s going on

Hate to be afraid in my home town

Watch the news, want to hear

That there is nothing here to fear
