Fragile Dreams

They came and went little darling, while we tucked up in bed

Melting with moonlight when sunshine raised her burning head

But we will find other dreams, no matter what those people said

We’ll be living in sunlight, while their hearts are cold and dead

What makes perverse people enjoy other people’s pain?

No matter how I look at it, can’t fathom what they gain

Their lies and innuendos fueled a slanderous gossip flame

We are the charred innocents of a malicious telephone game

We could pull up our tent pegs and find us another town

Or stand and fight for fairness until we live this scandal down

No matter what we choose we’ll never be the same

We’re scarred by their lack of conscience and their lack of shame

They came and went little darling while we tucked up in bed

Melting with moonlight when sunshine raised her burning head

In time we'll fulfill other dreams, despite what people said

Success and perseverance resurrecting our tarnished cred

They came and went little darling, while we tucked up in bed

Melting with moonlight when sunshine raised her burning head

But we will find other dreams, no matter what those people said

We’ll be living in sunlight, while their hearts are cold and dead
